Best method to update PowerEdge BIOS/firmware offline
Hi all,
I've been reading into this subject for a week or 2 and trying to figure out the best method to keep everything [reasonably] up to date, on a stand-alone network. I've recently been looking at the Dell Repository Manager and this seems like it might be what I need, but wondering what other options I might have.
This will mostly be on a stand-alone network and mostly Linx or ESXi
What are the best options for keeping all the components up to date?
Cheers,
Tim

Timbo475,
It will depend on the server you are using, but you have a couple options. If the server is within a few years old then it likely has the Lifecycle Controller (F10 at startup). If you access that you can go to Platform Update and use the ISO you create from Repository Manager to update with.
Let me know know the server models you are using and I can clarify.

Chris,
Thanks for the reply. We've got some R910 and some R730xd so they're Gen 11 and 13 respectively I believe.
Cheers

Great, thank you. Both of those generations are new enough to be equipped with the Lifecycle Controllers. So after creating the ISO with repository manager you can use it in the Platform update of the Lifecycle Controller.
