CIM and DMI and discript

what does CIM actually monitors if I set it up? I don't see any changes in the monitoring sytstem.  I also don't know what DMI is. I believe its for workstations, laptops etc... but I cant find any docs on the explanation of these 2 monitoring systems. I have  100 PE 2650 and am wondering what they do anyways. Any Help would be appreciated.

Also I think i read somewhere that discript does not work for servers. is that correct?
