DSM SA Connection Service Started and then Stopped
Hi there,
I've got a problem with Server Administrator.
The problem is the DSM SA Connection Service will not start.
When you try to start it it gives the message: "The DSM SA Connection Service on the local computer started and then stopped"
It's a quite random problem because i have it on serveral servers with OS Windows 2003R2 and Windows 2008R2 x64.
Server Administrator version is now 7.0 but i came from 6.4 to 6.5 to 7.0 and had this problem aswell.
Re-installing or removing and installing SA again fixes the problem temporary.
Also tried to change the port from 1311 to 10001 10010 what ever but that's not the trick :-(
Event viewer doesn't log anything so can troubleshoot from there.
Hope you can help me out.
Thanks in advanced!
Stephan

There is Open Manage Storage tools, etc, I was referring to previous OMSA installs as well.
Under the Add Remove Programs, do you see anything Dell or OpenManage listed there, if so then uninstall it. Then this is the 7.1 OMSA release a couple days ago.
www.dell.com/.../DriverFileFormats
Uninstall everything Dell and try the clean install with 7.1 and let me know if that resolves it.

Stephan,
Do you have any other OpenManage tool installed on the server other than 7.0?
It sounds like there may be competing software.

Hi Chris,
Any other OpenManage Tool?? Any other then?
I''ve upgraded the OpenManage installations everything.....as far as i can see there are no other OpenManage installations on the servers....
Can i check this somewhere to be certain?

Ok, only OMSA is installed and it's 7.0.
Im uninstalling it now and re-installing version 7.1 but i did this serveral times with version 6.4 to 6.5 and to version 7.0 and had this same problem everytime.
Im not at the office next week so my reply will be next week.
Thanks in advanced for your help!

Aaaah, now i see what you mean. While installing 7.1 you can choose which components you want to install.
Default OSMA, or i checked what ever, the follow:
Costum setup:
- Server Administrator Web Server
- Server Instrumentation
- Store management
- Remote Enablement
- Remote Access Controller
- Broadcom SNMP Agent
Those are the components im installing while installing OSMA 7.1 now :)

I have sometimes seen security programs shut down the connection service as a suspicious program. These occur randomly in an environment, like out of 100 identical boxes, 6-12 will have that service shut down. Try creating an exception in your security program, or temporarily uninstall it to see if that is the problem.

Our virusscanner doesn't inter fair with DSM.
I've got another server with 7.0.0 which i updated from 6.5 to 7.0.0 with the same problem.
But i got a new server aswell.....it looks a bit to random.
Any ideas left?
