ESXi with iDRAC6

It is my understanding that in the past, if I were rebooting my ESXi server remotely, I need to send an F11 command. With the DRAC 5 I was unable to do that, will I be able to do that with the iDRAC6 ENT?

Hello justncase,

with the enterprise IDRAC 6 you can open up a remote console via browser, enter your reboot command , usually your are using your infrastructure client or via virtual center to reboot the server dont you ?
please refer to http://support.euro.dell.com/support/edocs/software/smdrac3/idrac/idrac11mono/en/ug/html/index.htm as well as for DRAC 5 (it works with DRAC 5 also) documentation at http://support.euro.dell.com/support/edocs/software/smdrac3/drac5/index.htm
you will find all settings to setup drac card with remote console , at the remote console you can initiate the reboot via f11 , but I recommend to use the infrastrucutre client or virtual center if used.

Please respond if these infos were helpful

Best regards

Marcus

With internet explorer I had the same problem. I fixed it using firefox + java for access to idrac.
