Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start

Hi All

My Environment:

Windows 2000 Active Directory Environment (only one domain)
IT Services and Interface on my XP SP1 Dell Optiplex SX270 (with OMCI 7.00.0316 installed as factory default).
Downloaded IT Assistant 6.5.3.
Installed SNMP on XP computer. Set up communities: DELL_GET (read only) and DELL_SET (read/write).
Created a domain user (called CIMUser), put in administrator's group in ADUC (Active Directory Users program), also put in local administrator's group on XP Computer. Set this user on XP computer to log on as a service.

I am logged on my XP computer as my domain user (stephenb) which is in the domain administrator's group, and local administrator for my XP computer.

Problem:

Installed SNMP and then ITA (custom setup enabling CIM, and entering the user details) on my XP computer.
Restated
When I click on ITA, i receive the error message:
"Unable to connect to Dell OpenMange Server 'localhost' on port 2607.........."

So i went into services and found the two ITA services where on automatic, but had not started. So I try starting both of them and they both come up with:
"Could not start the IT Assistant Connection Service on local computer. Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start"

So I look at the dependencies part of this service and it has:
IT assistant  Network Monitoring Service
and under that it has:
MSSQLSERVER
SNMP SERVICE
and under this it has EVENT LOG.

The MSSQLSERVER is running (green play button on icon in system tray)
and the SNMP service trap is running (started).
when i click on SNMP service (which is on automatic) to start it says:
"The SNMP service on local computer started and then stoped. Some services stop automatically if they have no work to do.............."

So now I dont know what to do.
Is my SNMP service corrupt? I uninstalled ITA then restarted, uninstalled SNMP, then restarted. Reinstalled SNMP (just be adding it in the windows components), then restarted, then installed ITA again.

I dont really want to use SNMP, I want to use CIM, but the ITA installation says i need SNMP installed.

Can anyone help?

Snmp must be installed prior to the installation of IT Assistant.  Please uninstall both items, reinstall snmp and then reinstall IT Assistant.
