actually, you need the (4) iso segments posted here, they are later than the 6.5.1.

www.dell.com/.../DriverFileFormats

same directions as above, but it will look like this copy /b om*  om653_suu_a00.iso

technically, the file name doesnt matter, but its good to know what version it is.

Daniel,

Server Update Utility (SUU) is what you will need. You need to save it to disk and then run from the OS. What is the OS on the server, and I can get you the correct version? You will launch from the OS and then it will compare and give you a list of available  updates, and the current revision as well.

Thank you.

You will need to download these 3 ISO -

http://go.us.dell.com/5f7

http://go.us.dell.com/5f8

http://go.us.dell.com/5f9

After you have them downloaded you will need to open a cmd prompt and drill to the folder the ISO is saved, then run this command to merge the 3 ISO into a single ISO.

copy /b om*  om651_suu_a00.iso

After that then burn the ISO to DVD and then run it from the OS. That will give you the comparison of the current and update versions, as well as gives you the ability to update.

I use Repository Manager (at the moment). There are videos on how to use it and it enables the download of all the firmware/drivers for a model at the click of a button, then run the Server Update Utility (Suulauncher.exe) which comes as part of the download for any model you choose.

It is being superceded it seems by Dell Essentials (beta) and that seems quite OK also.

"SUU will allow user to compare the current versions on the system to those on the media and choose appropriate components for upgrade and/or downgrade. "

-> Does this mean the tool doesn't use the online repository and i have to download new DVD images each time i want to compare versions?

>firmware/drivers for a model at the click of a button, then run the Server Update Utility (Suulauncher.exe) which comes >as part of the download for any model you choose.

That's were I got stuck. Last week the installation of the SUU plugin failed (access to the online repository too) but today the installation was successfull and I could successfully export my updated bundle to an SUU directory.

But where do I find the suulauncher.exe for the exported bundle?

So u should have a list of folders like...........bin, docs, etc, java, lib, repository and RM

then in the root you will find suulauncher.exe

Ahhhh! Got it!

If you "Export as SUU to Directory" it creates only a folder "SUU_yyyy-mm-dd_hh-mm-ss-" with a subfolder "repository" including a catalog.xml and a lot of Dell update files. No suulauncher.exe oder other subdirectories...

But iIf you choose "Export as SOO to ISO" and thereafter axtract the iso, you'll get an executable SUU based on the latest updates.

Thanks for pointing me into the right direction!

you should always get the suulauncher.exe in the root directory of "SUU_yyyy-mm-dd_hh-mm-ss-" " if you export as SUU.

January 27th, 2012 08:00

No, I don't. I'm using the latest Repository Manager and SUU Plugin...

please give me your steps you are following and I will try to replicate the issue here.

January 31st, 2012 04:00

Windows Small Business Server 2011 (all updates applied) on R710.

Steps:

- Start desktop shortcut "(Server) Dell Repository Manager" (Version 1.3.124)

- Load remote repository (in my case automatically done)

- Select "Open" -> "Load Existing Repository" -> "Recent Repository" where I select my local R710 repository.

- Select bundle "PER710 v400"

- "Export" -> "Export as SUU" -> ""Export as SUU to Directory"

     Info: "Plugin found, Version 652"

- Select local folder (in my case "f:\dell repository export", 440GB free) -> Finish

Info: "Exporting selected bundles to directory" -> Downloaded 109 of 109"

"SUU directory created at F:\Dell Repository Export\SUU_2012-01-31_12-57-53-
1 Bundles exported"

"dir /s" of created folder:

Daniel, sorry for the delay, but what you are seeing is very odd. What i would expect is for none of the folders to be created, but you are getting the Repository folder created with the packages. This kinda looks like a folder rights issue. Are you signed in as Admin AND starting RM as Administrator?
