How to partition new Alienware 17?

Hi all,

I just bought an A17 with 500GB storage space; it has only one partition (C:).

I'd like to partition the drive to have the program files/softwares installed on C: and my files and documents stored on a D:.

How do I do this without somehow erasing the OS or damaging something? (I really have no idea...)
