ITA Email Alerts-Simulation

Hi,

I've successfully added email alerts for warning and critical errors using ITA. I tested it already by getting that email alert with all the $'s and such.

The problem is, I want to see an example of a real email alert before I implement this on multiple servers.

I already added another filter where it is set to alert for everything. I restarted a service to see if it came up with anything, but nothing was sent to my email.

How would you suggest I test this. Keep in mind, this server is in a production environment, and I'm accessing it remotely. So I need a safe way to test it using remote desktop.

Thanks for any help.

In the Server Administrator installation on the one of the servers that you are monitoring change the temperature thresholds to a ridiculously low value. This should generate an alert that should have the email filter triggered. Since the Server Administrator like IT Assitant has a web based interface you would not need to remote desktop either.
The fastest way to launch the Server administrator web pages if you have ITA would be to right click on the server in the device tree of ITA and select the Sever Administrator from the launch applications menu

The way I usually prefer to check email alerts is to pull a redundant power supply out of a server.  Before you do it, make sure Warning and Critical alerts will pass your filter, as well as Power and Redundancy events.
