Management Pack Rollups

Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right place to post but I'll start here. I installed the Dell Servers MP v 4.1 on and I noticed that the drive backplanes do not seem to roll up into the storage controller. I had a drive fail on one of my servers and would not have noticed it had I not opened up the Open Manage or looked at the diagram view in OpsMgr

is this by design?

This is by design. The Storage Controller turning critical could be interpreted in a different light altogether - an indication that is something more than just a driveplane is wrong... It might be more appropriate to get the health of the Storage Controller directly.

Whether to roll up the health or not in such a case, just because it is contained by the parent element, is debatable. It becomes a question of "Do you want to be notified that the health of a component is bad when something *is really wrong and in a critical state* - or do you want to be notified when *something related to the component* has gone bad?

... The designers have gone with the former approach...
