Multi-UPS Management Console - Bugs/Suggestions
We have been utilizing the latest release of the Dell Multi-UPS Management Console and overall really like it. Clearly it is almost identical to Eaton's IPM, but that isn't a bad thing.
There are two things I would like help either getting fixed or need to submit a bug fix for.
The first is environmental monitoring. I can see my environmental probe status in the console on the UPS it is plugged into, but it only shows temperature in Celsuis even though on the actual UPS Network Management Card it is set to Farenheit. Ideally it would show Farenheit in both places. Not sure if this is a bug/oversite or just some config setting that I cannot locate in the Multi-UPS Management Console, but at this juncture I am going to say it is an oversite.
The second thing is how to enable SSL. By default the console runs with both SSL and Non SSL pages available. How do I turn off the non SSL site? If this was IIS driven it would be no big deal, but I haven't seen any config on how to do this. Also, is it possible to load up your own certs instead of the self signed cert? We are tightly regulated and at the very least I need this thing to be SSL driven only.
Clearly not a lot of forum posts/feedback on this software, but figured I would ask these questions.

The SSL is not set by ULNM or MUMC. It is set on the NMC itself. Log into the NMC card for the respective UPS. Go to SETTINGS, ACCESS CONTROL, then choose SSL and full authentication
It appears to be an oversight with MUMC. When you change from C to F on the NMC card it changes the inputs such as under Management->Node Settings but not the display of the actual temperature.

If you are a Dell UPS Support person, please put an enhancement request in to show F in the MUMC.
As for running SSL on the NMCs themselves, we know, that is quite obvious. However, because MUMC is also web based, we would like the ability to run SSL on that as well. In businesses that are highly regulated like health care, financial services, etc., this becomes a real issue and every time it comes up you are forced to justify why you didn't run with SSL on anything that is web driven. Giving end users that option on the MUMC relieves that burden.
Like I said before, if this was IIS driven, it would be easy enough for users to install a cert and choose how they wanted to run, but since you aren't running on IIS, then giving users the choice to run the MUMC with SSL, without SSL, or both would be optimal.
Again, if you are a Dell/Eaton UPS Support person, please consider that an enhancement request.

Are you having issues remotely accessing MUMC? When you remote attach it is through SSL. See Chapter 4, remote access. Is this where you attach through non-SSL. If so, then that is an issue. Please confirm you remote access via SSL.
If you are talking about local attach I don't see the issue from a technical issue but I can see from an audit basis if you have an auditor that doesn't understand the technical aspect and is looking for the "s." I can add this as an enhancement for a future release.
And, "yes," the C and F issue has been logged and will be corrected when the next release comes out (date TBD).

so the default from the MUMC tray icon is non-SSL which should be http://127.0.0.1:4679/. If you manually load https://127.0.0.1:4680/ in the browser that works.
Did this resolve your issue?
