OMCI Package problems

I have read messages from many users detailing problems with the OMCI msi package but I have as yet not found a resolution.  I have downloaded the latest version of the OMCI software from Dell, have created an administrative installation package omci.msi by running setup.exe /a.

I have then attempted to distribute this package via Group Policy but all the 2K/XP clients are showing the error "

Product: OMCI -- 1: The InstallScript engine is missing from this machine. If available, please run ISScript.msi, or contact your support personnel for further assistance. "

I have contacted Dell and they have told me that they have contacated their packaging team but cannot give me a difinitive answer.  I have passed the msi package to our software team and they have told me that this package has been created with an old version of Install Shield.

As far as I can tell, OMCI can not be deployed via SMS or Group Policy due to the corrupt package and this is no good at all!  If I can get this deployed to our 5000 + workstations then I can turn them on outside of normal working hours and update AV, SUS, Bios etc all by scheduled scripts and there will be no interuption to the users.

Has anyone got any further on this?

I am having the same problem rolling out OMCI to my desktops. I have searched these forums and Google, but cannot find a solution. Group Policy is the best way to deploy the software for me, and I can't use it.

I have exactly the same problem here.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You've gotten further than I have.  I can't even find the OMCI download on the Dell site.  Do I have to enter a service tag in order to get anything from Dell?

Go to the Dell support website, choose a system such as an Optiplex GX270 and select Downloads, Systems Management/Windows 2000 and then submit.  Dell OpenManage Client Instrumentation (OMCI) will be shown and just download the file.

Well if you made an administrative package there is also a isscript.msi first run this one and then run the omci package. Our scripters made this for me. I made a couple of test runs and it worked fine.... but in the live situation it seems to have stopped working fine. On some machines it works and on others it just quits with a 1603 error. With no clear messages to why it stopped. i'm baffled. we are going to contact Dell about this.
