Openmanage SNMP not working on W2K3 64-bit R2
We monitor the hardware on our systems by installing Dell Openmanage and monitoring the SNMP tree that OM provides. For some reason, we have two machines running windows 2003 64-bit R2 that are missing the OID, even though OM and SNMP is installed. SNMP is definitely working b/c I can monitor other system resources, just not the Dell hardware. The .1.3.6.1.4.1.674 tree is simply missing. I've reinstalled OM and SNMP on one of the systems (a PE 1950) but it won't work. Interestingly, I have a PE 2850 that I tried to replicate this issue on, but it does seem to work, even though I cannot find a difference between them.
Anyone ever seen this before? It seems to work fine on all other OS's, windows or Linux.

When SNMP is installed after Server Administrator or is in someway corrupted by another SNMP aware application that incorrectly modifies the registry (some versions of Backup Exec and APC PowerChute for example) you will see this behavior. I would suggest verifying this with regedit on the two problem servers.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SNMP\Parameters\ExtensionAgents
The following values must be listed under 1 and 2 or SNMP needs to be reinstalled.
1 "SOFTWARE\Microsoft\LANManagerMIB2Agent\CurrentVersion"
2 "SOFTWARE\Microsoft\RFC1156Agent\CurrentVersion"
And for the Dell OID to be available you need a named agent SysMgmt that points to the Dell software which I can't list off the top of my head. It's typically added to SNMP during the Server Administrator install if the service is already there.
If SNMP looks good and you don't see the Dell registry key you can just do a repair install by choosing Modify for Server Administrator from the Add/Remove Programs list and then select Repair when prompted and restart the SNMP service when finished. Or alternately export just the SysMgmt key from one of the working servers and import the key on a 1950/restart SNMP.

Thanks. I just checked the registry and it looked fine, but tried the repair installation as suggested and still doesn't work.
How exactly would I export the sysmgmt key from another server and import it into this one? Looks like the next thing to try.

Hi, I had the same issue with Openmanage 5.5.0 (openmanage works fine through the browser) I've just tried upgrading to 6.2.0 and it's still the same. The troubleshooting tool brings back SNMP information successfully, but the Dell Openmanage response is missing:
Problem server
Connected to the agent software(s) - [broadcom, NA], [mib2, NA]
OK server
Connected to the agent software(s) - [broadcom, NA], [cminventorysnmp, NA], [drac3, NA], [mib2, NA], [OpenManage Server Agent, 5.8.0], [storagemgmt, NA]
Any solution would be appreciated :)

Divot2001 provided the solution for me. Here's what I had to do:
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4
Essentially, something happened to SNMP, and it had to be completely removed and re-added in order to clear it out.

Thanks, a reinstall of OM and SNMP did the trick.

That does sound a bit familiar, what version of OMSA do you have installed? If it is 6.2, you might want to try applying the 6.2.0.1 patch, but I think that was mostly fixes for NIC teaming.
