No, if you don't have this kind of partition, i don't think that issue come from System Reserved Drive.

Do we have some errors in the logs, after updates fail?

You can check in WindowsUpdate.log

Hello,

the OS is an OEM version installed with the server? If so our technical support can help you.

What can i suggest is to extend System Reserved partition, from disk management, is it possible?

If you have OEM OS you can contact Dell Technical support and they can help you on this.

Thanks

Marco thank you for the reply.

Yes the server came with server 2012 R2 preinstalled before I started in this department.

I don't think I will get support since this server is at least 6 years old and we do not have a service plan.

Will I get any assistance?

I am a little confused by your response about extending the system reserved partition since there doesn't appear to be one.

39MB OEM

3 GB Recovery

255GB OS C:

672GB Data

Unless the OEM part is the system reserved? Is that what you are saying?

I have tools to extend the partition size if I know where it is.

Thanks

Terry

Marco

Of course I have been digging into this deeper than I ever have and have taken the approach that possibly the server has missed previous updates and windows is just carrying on without them.

I learned how to run a script to do an offline check for missed updates using wsusscn2.cab.

So I now know there are 22 missed updates dating back to 2019 !!

Thank you for confirming that my issue is not a missing or too small system reserved partition. I hope that is what you are saying ? LOL that was the main purpose of my post.

So I will go down that rabbit hole first and hopefully can get those updates installed.
