Cgenie,

I would start by updating the BIOS and Drac to current, you can find the updates below -

BIOS - http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=V7P04&fileId=3376258359&osCode=WS8R2&productCode=poweredge-r620&languageCode=EN&categoryId=BI

Idrac 1.57- http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=XH6FX&fileId=3368816948&osCode=WS8R2&productCode=poweredge-r620&languageCode=EN&categoryId=ES

After that you can try again and see if it is resolved. If not then you also have the option of setting Virtual Media via the racadm commands -

  • Use the objects in the iDRAC.VirtualMedia group with the set command.
  • Use the objects in the cfgRacVirtual group with the config command.

Let me know how it goes.

Thank you for the suggestions.

The upgrade didn't help, I still can't connect via the JAVA Console.

With RACADM I can attach/detach virtual media but how can I upload the media image file?

Could you follow this link and confirm this is what you are seeing - http://de.community.dell.com/techcenter/systems-management/w/wiki/660.how-to-use-dell-idrac-virtual-media.aspx

Also, have you attempted with the Console set to Native, and not Java?

I have all the same settings except that my web interface and console look slightly different, maybe because I have new version. Here are the settings:

Here is the console screenshot:

And the 'connecting' dialog box that appears after I click 'connect virtual media':

Hello, Was same issue on similar server. Try to restart idrac (racadm racreset) - in my case it helped (iDRAC fw 1.57.57) Or you can downgrade idrac firmware to ver. 1.46.45 http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=JYX4C in my case it also helped
