T310: USC/LCE Platform Update not finding catalog / offering the latest updates
Hey all,
Two distinct, but possibly related curiosities:
- On our T310 running Lifecycle Controller 1.3, the Platform Update catalog has been consistently returning old versions as the current ones (it suggests BIOS 1.2.1, iDRAC 1.30, LC 1.3.0, and diagnostics 5130). I don't know if this is an issue with just the T310 specifically or if it is a problem parsing the catalogs generally. (The catalog looks like it was updated yesterday, and BIOS 1.3.6 has been out for at least a few months, so I don't think this is an issue of the catalog lagging behind bleeding-edge releases.)
- After upgrading to USC-LCE 1.4, I can no longer get the catalog of updates from the Dell FTP site at all. (The warning says to make sure that I'm using the Windows catalog, as that's now the only one that is supported.) What URL do I need to be entering in Platform Update? It seems like this should work with the default of ftp.dell.com and no path entered, like it used to.
The nice thing is that with LC 1.4, you can just enter the path directly to the Windows DUP you want in Platform Update (1.3 and earlier could sort of do this too, but it was hidden from the GUI so you had to use WS-Man scripting to do it; much nicer to have easy access to it up front). So the missing catalog is not as much of a drag as it used to be. Still, it would be handy to be able to get the full list like before.
Anyone seen anything like either of these?

The existing USC catalog “catalog.xml.gz” on ftp.dell.com contains only Linux DUPs and USC 1.4 only supports Windows DUPs. This is why the error message is shown. Once the catalog is updated with the latest releases (within 2 weeks hopefully) more packages will be visible.
