Tracking Server warranty

Hi All,

We have a lot of Dell Servers in our company. Is anybody know any way to track Server Warranty and get a reminder before the Warranty expiration? Currently, what I do is that I checked the warranty date for each server from Dell's web site, then I wrote it down and post a notice  to reminder me to update it. Are there any good ways to do it automatically?

Thanks in advance,

Thanks for posting!  If you go to support.dell.com and look in the upper-right corner, you can create a My Account.  If you input your service tags on your My Account, you can easily check to see when your warranties will expire.  I am not sure about emails to tell you when it will happen, but you can probably use your calendar for that.

Also, if you have the OMSA agent installed on each of the servers, you can input the warranty dates, and expiration dates under the "Asset Information" of the Properties tab in the OMSA agent webpage.

You could then use ITA to generate a report that would provide that information of the servers.

Not sure if you have all the infrastructure installed for that.  Might be easier for a small environment to just do the online profile, like the previous poster suggested.

Dell sends me annoying reminders via snail mail asking me to extend the warranty before it expires

Personally, i find any management system is never going to hold all the info i need, and it's usually easier to just stick the info in a spreadsheet. Then use formulae to autoformat the warranty status cells relative to the current end warranty date. Just have to check the spreadsheet every now and then.
