Trying to get some information on Dell Date Protection Enterprise
Trying to get some information on Dell Data Protection Enterprise as I think it will do what I want.
Basically looking for a centralized system that will allow me to encrypt laptops that are going out in the field and provision smartcards. Hoping that DDP Enterprise will allow me to provision a smartcard to Sally and when Sally goes to log into her laptop she will need her password + smartcard. Then if Sally needs to log into Bob's laptop, Sally uses her password + smartcard and can log into Bob's laptop.
Is that what DDP Enterprise will do for me?

Hi Mark,
You can customize login using Dell Data Protection with windows login and smartcard. Here' s a reference of single sign on in windows > ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_electronics/esuprt_software/esuprt_dell_utility/dell-data-prtcn_User%27s%20Guide2_en-us.pdf
Here a quick reference of it's functionality > ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_electronics/esuprt_software/esuprt_dell_utility/dell-data-prtcn_User%27s%20Guide_en-us.pdf

Thanks for that, but that looks like the older version. I am looking for information on these offerings from Dell: http://www.dell.com/learn/us/en/04/campaigns/dell-data-protection-solutions

Hi Mark,
Probably this can help to provide you some infomation > http://partnerdirect.dell.com/sites/channel/Documents/DDPE-Enterprise-Edition-Spec-Sheet.pdf
Seems that to obtain more information and solution based on your requirement, a call to the sales personel will be needed. You can get an evaluation installer via https://marketing.dell.com/data-protection-evaluation

I saw those and they are just a lot of marketing fluff. :) Looking for something a bit more in-depth, screenshots, features, etc. I am registered for a webinar tomorrow so I will see if that is helpful.

Mark,
Dell Data Protection | Encryption Enterprise (DDPE) Edition can enforce encryption on your endpoints. And it can LOCALLY manage advanced hardware authentication (fingerprint, smartcard, etc). Sally can log into Sally's laptop with multi-factor authentication and access her encrypted data.
However, for central management of smartcards (Sally logging into Bob's laptop with her card) then you'd need to use an enterprise smartcard solution like ActivIdentity or Gemalto. The DDPE software based encryption client will give Sally access to encrypted data on her or Bob's laptop as long as she can login to Windows with her card. DDPE supports all smartcards that are supported by Windows.
