Upgrade path R715

Hello,

I have a Dell R715 that has never been updated.

I'd like to know the best way to do so, and the upgrade path.

Regards,

Hello

You can find the available updates on the R715 support page.

http://www.dell.com/support/

The general rule is that you want to update software>drivers>hardware. The reason is that if you update something like drivers or hardware first you may not be able to load the software to be able to update it. If you update software first and you are no longer able to load software due to incompatibility then you should still be able to load drivers and hardware to update them to be compatible. Once updated the software should load again. If you start in the other direction you may have to downgrade or backflash to be able to update drivers or software.

There are other considerations with update order, the iDRAC/LCC is used to process updates on our servers, so it is recommended that it be one of the first components updated. This article has a suggested update order and other information.

You should also review each update for important notes. There is an important notes section on the download page, and you should also review the release notes for additional information if available.

Thanks
