Upgrading Idrac on R630

Hi,

I have lost my connexion to the server console via the idrac's web access.

I saw that this problem can occurs when the idrac version is to old comparing to Java.

It may not be the real problem but i saw that i can update my idrac (v2.30.30.30 to v2.80.80.80).

My question is, does it require an upgrade path or can i update it without risking to loose anything ?

I've searched a lot on dell's forums or dell's documentation but i didn't saw this information clearly.

SPEC:

- ESX 6.0.0 build-3620759

- BIOS: 2.1.7

- lifecycle 2.30.30.30

- IDSDM 0.15

- microsoftware 2.30.30.30.

Thanks for your attention,
Best regards.

It is recommended not to update iDRAC and BIOS directly to latest from very old FW. It is also recommended to have both BIOS and iDRAC at latest level. So I will recommend to update both iDRAC and BIOS in stages to reach latest as below.

iDRAC 2.50.50.50

BIOS 2.4.3

iDRAC 2.70.70.70

BIOS 2.9.1

iDRAC 2.80.80.80

BIOS 2.12.1
