One of the limitations of ITA 7 and 8 is that you cannot associate an event action(an email for example) with a specific alert source, only a category. In you case you would create the email action then create a new action filter, select the desired severity level then the category would be system events. Hope this helps.
I see that the severity level goes from normal-severe. If I monitor normal, would I receive constant messages? What do you do if you have a notification that a server is down and would like to receive another email saying that the server that was down is now back up an running?
