Windows Server 2008 R2 2019-10 Updates Breaks OMSA Login

After applying the 2019-10 Cumulative updates that patches IE we are unable to login to OMSA, version 8.2,  on Server 2008 R2 servers.  It attempts to start the main screen and then kicks out to the login screen.  We enter the known username and password however it just kicks back to the login screen.  We have been able to remotely login via firefox/chrome however on the servers with IE it will not allow us to login.  We have tried all the OSMA IE settings previously documented here . however they do not work.

Are there new IE settings for OMSA to work with the Windows 2019-10 updates?

We are seeing the same issue with all OS versions.

I uninstalled the updates and it works just fine.  Thankfully there is only one system I need this working on at the moment!

Having the same problem.  I'm finding the problem to be the failure of the DSM SA Data Manager service to start.  It terminates unexpectedly (as stated in system eventlog) if started automatically by the system or manually.  Not finding any answers.  Upgrading to v9.3 of OMSA fixes the problem for Windows Server 2016, but not 2008.  The application eventlog specifies further:

Faulting application name: dsm_sa_datamgr64.exe, version: 9.3.0.3465, time stamp: 0x5cab5364
Faulting module name: dcsupt64.dll, version: 9.3.0.3465, time stamp: 0x5cab531a

Hello,

Would you please attempt to install OMSA version 8.5 (instead of OMSA 8.2) on your box for Windows 2008 support.

https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=2ykn7

Also please check in case if you are having the very latest JDK/JRE installed on the system that might be of another roadblock when using OMSA version 8.5. A word of caution here, OMSA version 8.5 is released in the year 2017. It carries a bundled JRE and would be a conflict if you have some latest system JRE/JDK.

No worries, If you hit the log in issue due to this, maybe you might want to install OMSA and then install the latest JRE/JDK and point the OMSA's system JRE from there on from the "preferences" page.

I hope this information would help with some pointers. Great to know you are using DellEMC products.

Thanks

Vivek

I installed the latest JRE (8v231 I believe), directed OMSA to the system JRE and installed the latest Windows Server 2008 updates (2019-11) and OMSA v8.5 is now working properly again.  Thanks Vivek for the fix.  Haven't decided if I will try upgrading to the latest version of OMSA.  Doug

How to redirect OMSA to use the new jre path?

I see ENV VAR JAVA_HOME and have it set appropriately to no avail.

WinSrv 2008R2 with OMSA8.5 Login recursion problem.

Arcangelop,

You can use system JRE option available in OMSA or wait till next release which will have an updated JRE.

install JDK 11.0.4 which is LTS version.

- Log in OMSA

- Go to Preferences --> General settings -- Java Runtime Environment - select System JRE as 11.0.4.

Hope this helps.
