ftp.dell.com system management download issues

Hello

There are several threads in regard to download issues related to our ftp site. We have been transitioning away from ftp.dell.com to downloads.dell.com for a few years. Please use downloads.dell.com in place of ftp.dell.com if you encounter issues. http may also not work, use https.

https://downloads.dell.com

That should be used in place of ftp.dell.com or http://downloads.dell.com. This affects almost all of our management applications(LCC, OpenManage, etc).

If you experience issues with management applications updating or downloading then please make sure it is using https://downloads.dell.com. If you continue to have issues then it is likely unrelated. Please create a thread with details about the issue you are encountering so someone in the community can assist.

Thanks

Love the approach to "unrelated" errors :-/

Please suggest the workaround for inserting HTTPS://downloads.dell.com in Firmware update utility access details. Entering what you suggested in FTP field into the LC FU Access Details causes LC to go look for FTP.HTTPS://DOWONLOADS.DELL.COM which understandably fails. Spelling is correct  by the way, no joke.

Multiple 12G and 13G servers, same BS

Going through iDRAC WebUI does not have HTTPS either

2.60 iDRAC

Bootable ISO has 2.60, does not have 2.61

EXE files listed under iDRAC7 actually have iDRAC8 files

Major CF so far...

Same problem for me for several weeks, we tried downloads.dell.com and get connection error, also cannot use ftp command line to get connection using 2 of the ip4 addresses, we do not have ip6, I tried the ip4 addresses in life cycle controller firmware updates and get connection error.

Nothing works. Unable to update GEN 12 or 13 via the lifecycle controller. It is a shame that we have to manually update every file.  No problem updating GEN 14. I think Dell is dropping the ball on both GEN 13 and 12, which is very strange

There are several potential issues that can be encountered when trying to perform online updates. This thread was created to bring awareness to potential issues with ftp.dell.com and http://downloads.dell.com. Not all of our management software/hardware can use https://downloads.dell.com. If you cannot specify https then use http instead.

You should also make sure that the management software or device being used to perform the update is at the latest revision. We have been changing signatures on our DUPs, older management software/firmware may not be able to read the newer signatures.

In general, there are many changes that have been and are being made in regard to security for our management software/hardware, download site, and the files themselves. If you continue to experience issues after following the instructions I provided in this thread then the issue you are experiencing is not likely related to what is being discussed in this thread. The issue you are experiencing may be specific to the management software/hardware that you are using. I suggest creating a thread on your issue. I will be locking this thread.

Thanks
