iDRAC 9 Embedded Service Module Installer Missing
We have several PowerEdge R615 servers. One of them had a bad motherboard when it came to us, and Dell sent a tech out to replace the motherboard.
After this, the server no longer has the embedded installer for the iDRAC Service Module (iSM). The other servers do have it.
If I go to iDRAC Settings, Settings, iDRAC Service Module Setup, "Available Installer Version" says "Not Applicable". On the other servers, it lists 3.4.1 as the "Available Installer Version".
There's an information icon, and if I mouse over it it says:
In order to install the Service Module:
Download the iDRAC Service Module LC DUP from DellEMC Support. Downloading the installer will enable this feature and you can begin the Service Module installation process.
or
Enable iDRAC auto-update and update iDRAC. Updating iDRAC will download the Service Module LC DUP and enable this feature.
I can't find the iDRAC Service Module LC DUP from the support site anywhere. I don't want to enable automatic updates, either. I've tried manual updates against downloads.dell.com , but it's never offered as an option.
Today I installed the new iDRAC 9 firmware (from 3.40.40.40 to 4.00.00.00), hoping it would include the relevant DUP. It did not.
If I look at System, Inventory, Firmware Inventory, then the server lists a Component of "iDRAC Service Module Installer" with a FW Version of "Not Installed".
The other servers list a component of "iDRAC Service Module Embedded Package, v3.4.1, A00" with a FW Version of "3.4.1".
Additionally, the other servers have a Component of "OS COLLECTOR 5.0 15G, A00" with FW Version "5.0", but the server that had the motherboard replaced had a similar component of version 4.0, and the Lifecycle Controller doesn't find any updates for it. I did manually load in an update today - Diagnostics_Application_WGJYG_WN64_5.0_A00_02.EXE frm the support site. But this is still slightly different from that the other servers show. This update causes the Component column to show "OS COLLECTOR, 5.0, A00" (note the extra comma and lack of "15G" compared to the other servers).
I'd like to get them to be all the same, if possible.

For the iDRAC Service Module Installer for OS DUP, I found: https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=hdjcm
However, when attempting to run this update via the Lifecycle Controller, it states: "Unable to complete the firmware update operation because the specified firmware image is for a component that is not in the target system inventory."
This is despite the fact that the "Compatible Systems" section on that page lists the PowerEdge R6515.

Hello, Brian
Can you attempt to run this ISM DUP on your intended PowerEdge R6515 server to get it enabled?
https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=hdjcm
Hopefully, this is the one you are looking for.

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, that one gives the same message.
I'm giving it Systems-Management_Application_HDJCM_WN64_3.4.1_A00.EXE and it's giving me "Unable to complete the firmware update operation because the specified firmware image is for a component that is not in the target system inventory.".
Again, the system inventory lists "iDRAC Service Module Installer" as "Not Installed". The server does have an iDRAC 9, with enterprise licensing applied.

I also tried booting to the platform specific bootable ISO - PER6515_BOOTABLE_19.10.00.98.ISO - but that didn't detect any available updates.

Hello Brian,
We will attempt to check on our end. While we do that, I was able to find the latest iDRAC Service module version available. We have Version 3.5.0 supporting PowerEdge R6515. Could you attempt trying this?
I would also recommend you to go over this Youtube playlist to see if some of the trouble you had faced could be resolved from any of the corresponding videos.

That page links to the iSM package that you install onto the OS (Windows). I'm looking for the DUP that you add to iDRAC itself so that iDRAC can give you the installers for your OS.
If I try to load that file via manual update, it says "Unable to extract payloads from Update Package.".

Hi,
Same problem...
I try to install 'Systems-Management_Application_6Y06X_WN64_3.4.0_A00.EXE'. I need exactly 3.4.0 version.
Thanks

"Unable to complete the firmware update operation because the specified firmware image is for a component that is not in the target system inventory."
I'm using this file : 'Systems-Management_Application_6Y06X_WN64_3.4.0_A00.EXE' and I need exactly this version.

Probably the 3.4.1 solved this issue also:
Dell EMC iDRAC Service Module Installer for OS DUP, v3.4.1
Enhancements:
Microsoft Windows:
-Enhanced security between iSM and iDRAC communication.
-Microsoft Windows Server 2019 support for yx5x platforms.
-Redhat Enterprise Linux 7.6 support for yx5x platforms.
-Redhat Enterprise Linux 8.0 support for yx3x, yx4x & yx5x platforms.
-Ubuntu support for yx5x platforms
Sorry but it seems that with this version the issue is fixed.
