iDRAC Service Module: Remote iDRAC hard reset

How does "Remote iDRAC hard reset" work under the cover?

Is it sending IPMI commands to the BMC?

From documentation, I see a WMI method called iDRACHardReset is used but what is that method doing?

(search for iDRACHardReset in the doc)

Hi,

The Remote iDRAC Hard Reset underlying implementation involves iSM interaction with system BIOS which then interacts directly with the platform hardware to invoke the Hard Reset to the iDRAC subsystem hardware. The method by design does not depend on iDRAC operation, so commands such as IPMI are not used to invoke this function.

Dell-Nitin, Thanks for the info.

Is there any other way or Dell tool to accomplish the same thing besides iSM?
