That page shows the Pass-through configuration for USB NIC chosen and also has the IP address of my server where the OS resides, not the IP of the iDRAC NIC it's self.

You should use a new IP address. I installed ISM on one of my R720XDs a few minutes ago and it worked with all default values. I configured the IP address of the USB NIC to the IP address of the host OS like you did and it knocked my iDRAC's EWS offline. I had to reconfigure the address via command line because the EWS would not come back up.

racadm set idrac.os-bmc.osipaddress 169.254.0.1

Mine defaulted to an APIPA address, and it works fine with that address.

Thanks

Hello

Does the dedicated NIC have any firmware that would need updating that would cause this?

No

Why doe Virtual Console Viewer window sometimes displays No Signal message?

You may see this message because the iDRAC7 Virtual Console plug-in is not receiving the remote server desktop video. Generally, this behavior may occur when the remote server is turned off. Occasionally, the message may be displayed due to a remote server desktop video reception malfunction.

The license may not have installed correctly. All of the features are present in the iDRAC no matter what mode it is operating in. The license enables or disables features. The dedicated network port that can be added to the system is a bridging device, it has no logic that can be updated.

I suggest that you backup the license, remove the license, and then reinstall the license. If the issue persists then set the mode back to shared to test functionality.

Thanks

I switched the iDRAC over to user the Java Plug-In and can see the virtual console. Strange it worked on "native" before the adding the dedicated NIC. The only thing that is not functioning correctly is the Service Module for the OS. When I click on the Service Module menu I see the error

"RAC0654: No operations can be performed on the iDRAC Service Module. Make sure that the iDRAC Service Module is installed on the server operating system, and then retry the operation."

I have installed it on the server OS and it is started, unless I'm looking for the wrong service. The one I see running is DSM IDRAC Service Module. Is that the correct one?

Thanks

I have aT630 with a dedicated iDrac card and an enterprise iDrac license.

I am seeing the same error message.

RAC0654: No operations can be performed on the iDRAC Service Module. Make sure that the iDRAC Service Module is installed on the server operating system, and then retry the operation.

It was working, but now it seems to have stopped.  I have uninstalled the Service module and reinstalled it.  But this makes no difference.

It's been a few weeks since I have used it, but to my knowledge nothing has changed on the server.

Thanks

Hi,

Anyone got a solution for the: "RAC0654: No operations can be performed on the iDRAC Service Module." warning?

Thank you

I've not found anything that will allow the Service Module on my iDRAC to work yet!

If you have the express or enterprise license installed in the iDRAC and the ISM service is running in the OS then the issue is likely with communication between the two.

The iDRAC requires OS to iDRAC pass-through. Log into the iDRAC EWS and check the OS to iDRAC Pass-through configuration. It should be set to USB NIC.

Thanks

Thanks Daniel,

I checked my iDRAC config and it is set to OS to iDRAC pass-through and the ISM service is running on the server. I also ran the "Test Network Configuration" check while in the iDRAC web interface and received a "RAC0606: The network connection test operation was successful" message. Anything else I can check?

Thanks

I checked my iDRAC config and it is set to OS to iDRAC pass-through

By what method?

I logged in to my iDRAC web interface, clicked on iDRAC Settings menu, Network Menu, then OS to iDRAC Pass-Through. That page shows the Pass-through configuration for USB NIC chosen and also has the IP address of my server where the OS resides, not the IP of the iDRAC NIC it's self.

Is there a command line that would give more accurate info?

Thanks

It's interesting that using the host IP address knocked your iDRAC off. My iDRAC has been set that way for a number of months and has worked except for the error in the service module.

Thanks for your help Daniel
