omconfig - not showing perc bios - Why?

Hello. I'm new to this forum, so any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated. I have RHEL 4.3 running on a Dell 2950 and after running "omconfig system version" I do not see any bios info for the installed perc cards. I checked the server and I do see the module loaded and the Raid is accessible. I do see the bios info via dmesg, but not in the omconfig output. Does anyone know why this is?

Thanks,

Wayne

Hello wakruem,

with the omconfig commands you can set and get infos of the server, if you want detailed infos about the PERC raid controller I recommend to use the omconfig storage comands. On http://support.euro.dell.com/support/edocs/software/svradmin/5.4/en/index.htm you can find the command line ref guide and also additional commands regarding perc raid controllers (see Storage Management User guide) and possible actions, the CLI og open manage is very powerful , good for scripting and a very good alternative , if you don`t use graphical inferface on linux, and useful and offers a little bit more than the GUI can offer, but the GUI is really good designed for daily checking and maintenance operations. Please also verify which version of open manage you are using, some options are only available on specific versons , see also http://support.euro.dell.com/support/edocs/software/svradmin/

Hello carrielsal,

the omreport storage command also reports more than the installed controllers, please verify my last posting and refer the commandline guide http://support.euro.dell.com/support/edocs/software/svradmin/5.4/en/index.htm and open the section Storage Management User guide , there you will find the options.

Sry for the mismatch of info

I'm looking for the perc bios. If I run this command on 2950s running RHEL 4.6 I can see the bios information, but on servers running 4.3 I don't see this info. FYI: dmesg | grep -i perc works fine on RHEL 4.6. Any reason why I'm not seeing it on servers running RHEL 4.3 via the omreport command?
