I seriously doubt that there will be a way to get OMSA installed with XP. Not to mention, the drivers being used would most likely cause inaccurate information anyway.

We have OMSA installed on Windows Professional 2000/SP4 on a bunch of PowerEdge 2950s.  Just seems odd they support Windows 2000 Pro but not XP Pro!

Windows 2000 Pro uses the same kernel as the Server editions. XP and 2003 are different.

Alright, put some more time into this project today.  Got it working finally!

Quick and dirty solution:

1. Use Orca (free from M$)

2. Edit the the SysMgt.msi file and search for OSCHECK="NO".  Change NO to YES.  Save MSI file.

3. Installs like normal.

Can't believe Dell doesn't allow this to be installed out of the box.

Awesome suggestion.  Thank you so much for this.  It is rediculous that Dell didn't provide a solution for this out of the box.  In my case I also had to 'DROP' the check for server model because my PERC 5/e is in an HP.  But ORCA rocked and was able to remove that restriction too.

I REALLY appreciate the help SUP3RFLY.  I have been 'suffering' with the BIOS only setup of an MD1000 behind a PERC 5/e for several years.  Now I can do everything in Windows.  Awesome.....just awesome!

First, I would like to thank you guys for this info, I have been fighting to get a working OS side raid manager for my works Dell PowerEdge 2950s.

Most have XP but even on the 1 server that has Windows Server 2003, it didn't want to install without me removing/changing both the OSCHECK="NO" (Changed to yes) and CP_SUPPORTEDSYSTEM <> 0 (deleted row, saved a copy in a text file just in case).

An alternative may be to use Dell's software for the Precision Workstation range; these systems were/are also offered with the PERC5, PERC6 and I think even the H700 controllers, and Dell supports XP on these systems, so they have software to manage those raid controllers on XP.
