Installing iDrac service module on XenServer 7.1
Hi there,
Trying to install the iDrac service module on XenServer 7.1
I downloaded iDRACSvcMod-Dell-Web-LX-2.5.0-566.XenServer70_A00.iso from the dell website
When I tried to install it either through XenCenter or through xe-install-supplemental-pack, the error that is thrown is that the update package is invalid.
Info: missing update document (update.xml) in the package.
Sure enough, after mounting and browsing through the iso there is no update.xml that could be found.

Hello
The ISM is listed as supported on XenServer 7.0. I attempted to install it on 7.1 and was unable to complete the install. I encountered dependency issues. It is my understanding that there is a significant difference between 7.0 and 7.1. Packages compatible with 7.0 will not necessarily work with 7.1.

Thanks for that feedback.
Any idea as to when the updated ISM will be released?
I'm not about to attempt to force the current ISM to work with XenServer 7.1 if it doesn't have the dependencies resolved. There is a risk in doing so, and we are making this server live in a week. If something went wrong, it will delay this as I tried to fix.

I don't expect it will be soon. The next ISM that is currently in development is still listed as compatible with 7.0 and not 7.1. We are likely a couple of revisions away from having an ISM for 7.1, but that could change. We do not typically discuss upcoming driver and firmware release schedules.
