OpenManage for Windows Server 2008
I was wondering if someone can point me the in the direction of a Dell Openmanage Setup and Update Utility or the "Installation and Server Management CD" that I can use to install the recently released Windows Server 2008 RTM.
TIA

I had the same question, went to these links, downloaded and burned the ISO and booted from the DVD to my PE 1430 SC. The Windows Server 2008 installation options do not display. I tried the same with the January 2008 versions with similar result. What am I missing in this process? Incidentally, if you go to the compatible systems link at the bottom of the download page, it does not list Windows Server 2008.

Since I wanted to do a clean install, in the absence of OMWS08, I booted from the WS08 install disk directly to bare drives and it installed native drivers on the PE1435 SC without a hitch. Judging from what I've seen, that's to be expected with this vintage of server since all of its internals are listed as being supported. Of course, I'd first made sure all the hardware was running on the most up to date firmware. I've not yet tried installing OM on top of this; that's my next step and I understand that the current version OMSA may not install.

I have no idea.. I got around it by installing windows 2003 using the "SBUU 5.4" and then installed windows server 2008 over it. Obviously not a good solution but I don't see anyother way provided by Dell. If you find a better solution please post it here.
TIA

I found a couple of articles that seem to have some answers:
This one walks through the windows "longhorn" install:
http://www.delltechcenter.com/page/Installing%20WS08%20via%20Dell%20Systems%20Build%20and%20Update%20Utility?t=anon
This one suggests that Dell will not release a utility until they "ship windows 2008":
http://www.delltechcenter.com/thread/1241547/Openmange+5.4+and+Server+2008?offset=0&maxResults=20&t=anon
So I guess we will have to wait for Dell to ship windows 2008. A product by same name and general functionality got released by Microsoft fairly recently.:smileywink:
