Openmanage Server Administrator vs. Proactive Systems Management

hey everyone,

I seem to be having a hard time differentiating these two services.  The major differences i can gleam is that PSM tends to deal more with hardware faults while OMSA deals more with system faults.  I guess what i'm looking for is the purpose of each product and how they differ from one another.

Thanks for any help you can give me, its appreciated.

OpenManage Server Administrator (OMSA) is not a service ... it is server management software that should be installed on the OS of all Dell servers for monitoring and interacting directly with the hardware ... hardware logs, monitoring temps and volts and adjusting their thresholds for error, processors, NIC's, RAID controller and individual drives, including controller logs, and even setting/changing some BIOS settings.

Proactive Systems Management  is a service using software to gather information from servers running OMSA - giving you a central place to see information from all your servers, rather than looking at each individually.  It is similar to Management Station/IT Assistant but differs in that it is linked with Dell Support, streamlining the support process.
