Are you trying to set up the alerts on the ESXi instance of OMSA or the one in Windows on the guest OS? If it is the guest OS, since Vmware uses emulated hardware and the real hardware is not passed through the Windows OMSA instance it is not able to see the hardware errors to send alerts. If you are just using the Windows version as the web server to reach the managed server on ESXi you can pull SNMP traps this way, but it doesn’t support email alerts. You have to configure it to send SNMP traps to Openmanage Essentials or another monitoring tool and have that send out the email alerts.

Hi Josh,
I was trying setting up the alerts using Windows (guest OS) to reach the managed server on Esxi using the web server.
I'm going to try what you suggest: configuring SNMP traps to Openmanage Essentials.
Thank you.
Best regards.
