Using DOSA to rebuild PE 6400 server with Win 2K Server
Hi all,
I would like to rebuild one of our company's mail servers using the DOSA. I recently upgraded the server to Windows 2000 SP4 and installed Array Manager. I was able to see then that one of the drives in the server is listed as "Ready" but is not part of the current RAID-5 array. I am going to use the AM to add this member to the current array before doing anything else.
The server is currently running BIOS A13, ESM Firmware A57, and firmware 1.06 on the PERC 2/DC card.
What version, at a minimum, do I need for the DOSA CD in order to install Win 2K Server on here? Also, can I use a Win 2K Server CD with no service packs on it, or does the CD need to have a SP already included on it?
Also, will I need to have a floppy ready with the PERC 2/DC driver, or will this be on the DOSA CD?
Thanks!

Most of the recent versions of the DSA cd's (8.x) definitely support the 6400 server with the operating system that you want to reload. If you use the DSA, you will not need a diskette with Perc drivers on it. The diskette is only required if you would like to use an operating system cd (Win2K in this case). The Perc drivers are included in the DSA. If you choose to use the operating system cd, I would apply any service packs desired as soon as possible after the installation.
If you have a particular DSA cd version that you would like to use, please note the version number and I will be happy to verify its compatibility.

Hi Michelle,
One other question: Will this DOSA CD contain the 2.68 driver for the PERC 2/DC controller, or will I need to update to that after setting up the server?
I am also assuming that the DOSA CD will prompt me to enter the serial number for my copy of Win 2K server and then pop in the CD to copy the necessary files. I apologize if this questions comes off as silly, but I am new to all of this.
Thanks!

The driver should be updated to 2.68 using DSA 8.1. You can navigate to Device Manager after the installation completes and verify this from the device properties.
The DSA installation starts with the Server Setup. When you have completed the setup it will prompt you for the operating system cd to copy the files. Then when the windows installation is actually in process you will be prompted to enter the Win2k product key.
I hope this information is helpful!
