Dell Venue Pro Compass doesn't work

I have now been using the DVP for a couple of months, and I have to say that I am still quite satisfied with this preduct, in particular after I had installed Mango. However, there is one issue that is a little bit disturbing, and that is that the compass does not work and, according to rumors in various internet fora, no fix will be available! If that is true, it is disappointing, because I feel a little bit abanndoned by Dell as a customer. One may ask, why would you need a compass (which had been announced by Dell as one of the features of the DVP)? If, e.g., you are into outdoor sports, such as mountain hiking, you need one, and it would also be nice, if one were able to use apps such as TouchMountain, which requires a functioning compass. I sincerely hope that the compass issue will be fixed by Dell at one point. I am sure, Dell customers would appreciate it very much.
