Pen kills batteries even when not in use

I don't use my pen very often, but it's almost always dead when I go to use it.  I have to keep a spare AAAA battery with me, and replace it almost every time I use the pen.  It looks like the pen just like running down batteries even when it's sitting idle.  I don't have this problem with my XT3 - I get weeks or months out of the batteries from its pen.  What's going on here?

Well, the pen has A LOT of issues and one of them is the battery drain. I'm sure it's draining the battery because it's not going to sleep properly.

Only cure is unscrewing the pen between uses to conserve battery.

Meanwhile, I'd contact Dell support for a replacement. That's what I did.

Did they acknowledge that the pens had issues?
Have you received the new pen and does it work better than your original one?

I think the biggest problem I have with the unit right now is the wonky pen detection.  I can't determine if it's the pen or the Synaptics digitizer.  Either way, I hope there is a fix for it sometime soon.

I’m not the oc but I have two pens with the same problem. Literally just got my pens and laptop a week ago and I’ve been through 3 batteries
