Venue 11 Pro (7130) irstrtsv errors after Windows 10
I recently reinstalled Windows 10 on my Venue 11 Pro (7130). Since then, the performance is very spotty. Sometimes it runs fine, other times is lags.
I have noticed there are many errors in the event logs. The most common is the following:
Source: irstrtsv
Event ID: 0
Level: Error
Description: The description for Event ID 0 from source irstrtsv cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer, or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.
irstrtsv
Error: Unable to read LBA sector directly. : The parameter is incorrect.
I first did an update from Windows 8.1, then I reformatted the drive and install Windows 10 clean. Both have exhibited this error. I have also installed all the updates listed on Dell's site for Windows 10.
Has anyone else seen this and found a solution?

Since upgrading to Windows 10 on Aug 4th I have received 3,068 of the same message. The error occurs every 5 minutes.
Intel Rapid Start Technology still works.

Seen it, yes. Found a solution, no.
I have been working on this and other issues virtually nonstop for days trying to get everything resolved. I have an XPS-18 which displayed the same problem as you describe after the automatic upgrade to Windows 10. Worse that that, however, and what drove me to look at the Event Log in the first place, is the fact that my Intel WiDi does not work now. It was fine before the upgrade, but I have invested untold hours in checking for and installing Intel drivers, posting on Intel boards, and so forth. All to no avail. And of course for the XPS-18 there is no alternative means of connecting a second monitor.

Got my WiDi working with help from Aleki over at Intel. But a look at the Event Viewer shows Rapid Start is still firing off LBA sector errors like a machine gun. And now I am worrying about what's going on in the minds of the developers. I found these three Information notices from IRST Manager:
IRSTConfig.Main() Start!!!
IRSTConfig.Main::Instance is exist! Pop-up original instance and program exit..
MessageEvents::WM_POPUP_SETTINGS_WINDOW message is received!!!
I can excuse bad grammar ("Instance is exist"), but I cannot excuse the use of multiple exclamation points. What's more, these appear to be a programmer's internal debugging messages to himself, which somehow made it through QA testing to Production.

Careful now, I've spent my whole career in IT sending debug/status messages/emails to myself. Who do you think reads all those logs etc?
My take is this: Dell is off the hook. Nothing to do with them other than passing on an Intel IRST fix.
Microsoft Windows 10 upgrade was the trigger. For IRST I had to turn off, uninstall, turn on, reinstall and test. Results are IRST is working as before but logs an error every 5 minutes.
So it could be a change in the way Windows 10 handles LBA (Logical block addressing). The IRST SSD Partition is NOT your usual formatted x: drive... It belongs to BIOS at wake-up and not Win 10.
But Intel is the one to fix it. Looks to me like every 5 minutes Intel is checking if the IRST partition is available. Why?

I'm surprised that nobody gave you information. This helped me with my XPS Intel widi.
