New Unity450F - does not discover WWN`s on 2nd Fabric
We have 2 * new Unity 450F arrays installed and configured on Cisco MDS FC Switches.
When configuring the first hosts and the zoning was created - BUT only the WWN`s on the FIRST FABRIC appeared on the Array to be added to Hosts....
We have compared the 2 * Fabrics and the only difference is naming and VSAN ID - and there are only currently about 5 hosts - so pretty simple. Repeating and checking the process - and this behavior was consistent -
The only way to get it to discover WWN`s on the second fabric was to reboot the active SP (?) - and then they appear on Fabric B with no other changes,...strange ..i would expect them to be logged in and available as soon as zoned correctly. they show in the FLOGI database and once the SP was restarted work and have the paths correctly.
NOTE :These are new installed and we are waiting on the Site setup to be able to log a ticket correctly with DELL/EMC but trying to move forward. - so any advise or anyone seen / resolved this behavior ?
Thanks

Hey rh999,
Sounds like too complex an issue to try to resolve in the forums.
Sounds like an issue on that second fabric. I would open an SR with the connectivity team here to have that checked out (assuming these switches are Dell EMC supported).
"i would expect them to be logged in and available as soon as zoned correctly". You are absolutely right here. This is my experience as well. Once zoning is done and FC cables laid out, the WWNs should show up green on the Unity side straight away.

Thanks for that and i realize its not simple - but was hoping it had been seen before.
the reason i think its an issue with the Unity Array i that the FC switches (Cisco MDS) are new and we have this issue on 2 new sites.
Both Unity Arrays will not pick up HBA`s on the fabric without an SP restart ...but with no changes to the FC Switch they are then all suddenly visible, !
The DellEMC site codes for these are not yet available and we do not yet have ESRS installed yet ...

You might be right, it might be the Unity, but I have never seen this issue here as you described it.
My suggestion would be to open an SR with support, with Unity and switch logs for review.

Thanks
a good suggestion - but i need to add its on a (very) remote site so not really possible unfortunately.
The Web GUI reports as all happy / OK so as previously suggested only one way to go really...
I have run the script to collect the Log Bundle and will log with DELL and will get an SR raised against the Serial Number as the site code info is not yet available.
Thanks for all input..

since there is low number of hosts, is it possible to direct attach to unity? to make sure unity controllers are ok.

This is only an options if:
- this is not a production environment yet
- this is done for testing only and then restored to normal switched environment).

send logs from the switches also to switches manufacturer and open a case with them
