Please Help with VMWare cluster design using Unity 380F . Few questions
Hi all, I don't really know Unity 380F unit, but it was selected as a SAN for a VMware cluster projet.
We will have a 4 nodes vmware cluster splited in 2 locations (500 m one from the other).
Each side will have 2 ESX nodes with: 2 Fiber channel ports , and one Untity 380F with 4xFc ports (2 for each SP).
I wanted to avoid the use of a FC switch. Can someone confirm if my forseen setup could work? :
One each site, i would like to directly connect the 2 FC ports of each ESXs to 2 FC ports of theire common Unity 380F (so all Untiy 308F FC ports would be used). Then i would like to use "mirrorview" (i think it called like this) to sync some LUNS from the first Unity 380F to the second distante one using the 2 10 Gbps ports of the Unity itself (throw a couple of Ethernet 10Gbps switch interconnected by optical fiber) .
Would this setup work ? Can we use at the same time 2 fiber channel ports directly connected for Esx, and the 2 10Gbps ports for Unity mirroring ?
That would avoid me do use a Fc switch or additional board.
Thanks a lot for help !

Hello cris973,
Directly attaching a host to a Unity system is supported if the host connects to both SPs and has the required multipath software. Here is the link to Dell EMC Unity Family Configuring Hosts to Access Fibre Channel (FC) or iSCSI Storage. https://dell.to/2UTvk7c
You can use mirrorview as replication as well. Here is the link to configuring replication. https://dell.to/2JYgo1f
Lastly here is the link to Dell EMC Unity Info Hub: Product documents and information. https://dell.to/39Q5oxG
Please let us know if you have any other questions.
