FAST VP is not available on the AFA and the tiering calculation behind FAST VP is not running. I think (I have not gotten a definitive answer) the reason is concern about excessive wear on the EFD caused by the FAST VP relocations. This "may" change in the future.

The ALL Flash Pools do not use FAST VP or FAST Cache - please see on page 11:

Hello,

I was aware of this document and this limit, and i actually said that. But what is unclear for me is that : i understand for FASTVP between tiers, for an all flash, but about the internal rebalance on private RAID groups ? Even if it is an All Flash array, workload can be very different between LUN. So it seems not totally stupid to implement at least the internal rebalance brought by FAST VP even in this case.

So are you confirming to me that this is not available at all in a flash array, or are you just telling me that the documentation states that FAST VP is not available for AFA without any precision on FAST VP internal or between tiers ?

Thank you.

Regards.

keep in mind that with SSD drive performance this is very different from using magnetic hard drives

If you do have an all-flash system where private raidgroups seem to get "overloaded" then please take performance captures and open a service request

we would like to hear about it

how data gets paced on all flash pools will change in the next release - but not for performance reasons
