VMAX LEDs
Anyone know what Microcode and SYMCLI version needed to turn on an LED that has been automatically turned off? This happens occasionally on our VMAXs and when I try to run the SYMCLI command it says the following:
C:\Program Files\EMC\SYMCLI\bin>symcfg -sid XXXX set -led on
The requested feature is not supported for this Enginuity or SYMAPI version
We're using 5875.XXX (latest version) and plan to upgrade to 5876. SYMCLI version is 7.4.1 but I know 7.5 is out. Do I need to grab version 7.5?
Thanks in advance!

Hi,
I think it requires 5876 code.
Thanks

Ah ok, we have an microcode upgrade set for next week so that should fix the problem. TY!

Well I can't explain the logic behind this, but that is how this command is documented in the Solutions Enabler Symmetrix Array Management CLI Product Guide.

VMAX-20K. I’m confused. If the command is in SYMCLI, but only for 1 version of the VMAX, that does not make any sense.
And it’s just an LED. Turning it on or off or making it blink has absolutely NO ISSUE with the array itself. It’s a light bulb! ☺

So…every time the LED goes out on its own we have to call EMC out here to turn it back on?! That’s – annoying – if anything! LOL

What model array are you using? This feature is only available in 5876 for the VMAX 40K. This feature is not available for the VMAX 10K/20K arrays. More details in knowledgebase article emc307179.

Ah good find John. I was wondering why that wasn't working. No knight rider for us since we have a 20K.

we have the latest 5876 and can confirm that this still does not work. I believe they took this out of the GA code and it is only in the engineering code.
