Why would I choose to enable Auto RDF Link Recovery on VMAX RDF groups?
When we installed our DMX-3 seven years ago, the first dozen or so RDF groups were set up with the "Prevent Automatic RDF Link Recovery" option enabled, which is the default. Symrecover was then set up to monitor the links and do restarts, which usually works. Since then, we have always made our RDF groups using that default. I'm just curious, why is that the default and what are the implications of turning on Auto Link Recovery? The documentation on why you would or would not use it seems to be missing. Everything refers to the setting, but no discussion about it. Now that we are migrating to VMAX 20k arrays, it seems worthwhile to ask the question. On all arrays we are using SRDF/A.
Thanks,
Daniel
