expanding a raid group with existing disks
i got some RGs that i would like to expand instead of creating a new raid group. The available disks are mix of sata and fc.
to expand the rg, I can just right click on the rg and go to disk and pick the disk i want then expand right?
Is there a problem with this or is there a better way?

it depends how busy your arrays is, how busy other drives in the raid group are.

I do not see any SGs mapped to this lun on this RG. But it shows it has private luns. any idea if its ok to delete?

find if private LUN is part of a meta lun ?

did you check reserved lun pool, check if that LUN is there.

just found out they are part of a metalun. is there a quick way to find that out?

properties on the private lun does not show any metalun info

When I pick on any RG and go to disk and then expand,
I see a lot of disk showing as unbound
but when I go try to create a new RG only these disks are showing.
why is that?

yes manual shows them all. but why doesnt automatic?

it's always done that, it will select the best number of drives for the raid type selected.

I initiated a rg expansion 3 days ago. it had 3 disks and I added one more disk. The drive sizes are 750gb sata. Even after changing the priority to high, it is still only 74% completed. why is it taking so long? Its not that busy of rg.
