expanding storage device assigned to esxi servers

Hi, our windows group are just starting to get their vmware ESXi server ready, and they've requested 350gb of san storage from our VMAX be assigned to it. They say the may need that expanded in the future. We do not have any thin pools created on our vmax, so I can only assign storage out of our regular disk pools. I've extended metas assigned to standalone Windows servers in the past. Can I use the same procedure to expand the meta assigned to the ESXi server(s) in the future ? they are running vsphere 4.1
