I'd update to java 1.7.51 - the 32-bit version - that seems the best version for me on my W7 64-bit OS.

I still get the message about 1.6.xx needs to be updated, but I just cancel that.

Check on Control Panel -> Java Control Panel -> Java -> View

If you have more that one version, you should have only one enabled for user and system.

Check the image:

As glen say the best java is: java 1.7.51 - the 32-bit version

Long shot, but check your java control panel and see while versions of java show enabled. You could have an older VM being detected somewhere.

Its seems ok, do you check the system tab too?

Also what navigator are you using? Try MS Internet Explorer, sometimes Mozzilla or Chrome doesn't works.

Just to be clear, the 32-bit version of Java is the only one officially supported by EMC.

From the latest Release Notes - page 7 (attached)

Java support

The following 32 bit Java Platforms are verified by EMC and compatible for use with Unisphere, Unified Service Manager (USM), and VNX Installation Assistant (VIA):

• Oracle Standard Edition 1.7 up to Update 75

• Oracle Standard Edition 1.8 up to Update 25

The 32-bit JRE is required, even on 64 bit systems.

JRE Standard Edition 1.6 is not recommended because Oracle has stopped support for this edition.

IMPORTANT: Some new feature/changes may not take effect in the Unisphere GUI after an upgrade. To avoid this, EMC recommends clearing your Java cache after an upgrade.

Since I'm pretty new to Unispherer usage, I spent a couple of hours fighting with Unisphere and the Java 1.6 requirement issue.

Long story super-short, I run Windows 8.1, IE 11, with Java 1.8 Update 60 64-bit. The only thing I was required to do is add the IP address of Unisphere to the Local Intranet sites list in Internet Explorer 11 and no more issues.

I have 4 VNXs.  3 of them worked fine if I had the VNX in Trusted Sites.  The 4th would not, regardless of JRE version.  It finally worked when I put that VNX into the Local Intranet zone.

Just to be sure, I have also added all VNX DNS aliases and all IPs to Local Intranet.

Thanks lincolnatwood.

FYI - a couple of  tips - you should add the "Runtime Parameters" to add additional memory for Java - ignore that I'm using 1.6 - I need that version for the older CLARiiON arrays. Double click in the setting window, click on OK, then on the next screen click on Apply otherwise it wouldn't be saved.

If you're using IE (I only use IE for Java and Navisphere/Unisphere), you may also want to add the IP address for each array to your settings. Left click the Tools icon, then select Compatibility View Settings.
