EMC RAID recommendation
Hello,
Why EMC recommends to have the RAID6 configuration with RAID6(6+2) or RAID6(14+2) with VNX2 ? Is there any reason they have removed RAID6(4+2) from the recommendation as RAID6(4+2) was one of the recommended configuration with VNX1.
Is there any specific reason for the drive count with RAID group like why RAID5(4+1) and why not RAID5(5+1) ?]
Thanks in advance

Curious here as well, I had designed a pool with a 4+2 RAID6 tier, it is configured that way in the primary box but now I cannot duplicate the pool design in the DR box. Has there been any answer for this query?

You can manually create a Pool with 6 disks - in the drop down for the disk type, select R6 (6+2), under the Disks section check the manual check box then select 6 disks then apply - I tried this on VNX2 running flare 33.119 and it worked.
I think the reason the 4+2 was removed from the list is that this configuration is not considered optimal for performance.
