How to reset the VNXe System passwords to their default values

The VNXe ships with a default admin user account that lets you perform the initial configuration of the VNXe. It also ships with a default service user account that lets you perform specialized service functions.

As part of the initial configuration, you are forced to reset the default passwords for these accounts. If you forget the new passwords you set for these accounts, you can reset the passwords back to their default values, as follows:

1) On the back of the disk-processor enclosure, locate the password reset button on either Storage Processor (SP).

2) Use a blunt object (such as bent paperclip or a pen) to press the password reset button. Hold for approximately 1 to 2 seconds, and then release the button. A few seconds later, the Fault LED turns a steady blue.

Warning: Pressing the reset button for more than 10 seconds will reset the Storage Processor.

Note: If the fault LED does not turn a steady blue, push the password reset button on the other SP. If this does not work, look for a solution to the problem or open a chat session on the EMC Online Support website (http://www.emc.com/vnxesupport)

3) The next time you run Unisphere, you will be prompted to reset the default passwords for the admin and service accounts.

The default password for the admin account is Password123# and the default password for the service account is service .
