Mixed Storage Pool expansion issue

hi all....

in a vnx5300 i'm triyng to expand a mixed storage pool composed by SAS drive (STE30065 CLAR300) and NL-SAS drive (ST310004CLAR1000) with new NL-SAS drives (ST1000NM NEO1000) but i'm receive the warning message "Drive type of Pool_R5_MIXED and disks selected for expansion are different". Can i safely ignore this warning or i've to check something else prior to apply the expansion??? Thanks in advance!!

Did you recieve the new type of disks from EMC? The disk model type is different although I guess the sizes are both 1TB.

Yes.... You're right!!!

Both nl-sas types are exactly the same size....

Raising an SR with EMC would help to get a response regarding whether both the disk types will be supported in the same group as the same tier in the mixed pool. Never encountered this warning message myself, but I think its a harmless message because of the different model of Seagate drives. The drives are of the same type with same interface speed. But still before expanding the existing pool, would recommend a definitive response from EMC regarding supporting both drives in the same pool. EMC has shipped the disks to you, so they should be able to clarify very soon.

Ok!

Opened a SR wih emc support. The warning is related only to the difference between Seagate 1TB NL-SAS model......so can be safely ignore and the disks can be added to the pool with absolutely no risks for the data integrity!!

Thx Sushant for you support!!
