SAN Copy Migration and Solaris SPARC 11 LDOMs Involved

Hello Experts,

We are migration from VNX to Unity using SAN Copy incremental push. SAN Copy part is pretty clear to us.

However, we want to know on the Host side(Solaris Sparc 11 with various LDOMs) considerations.

What needs to be done on the new disks on Solaris. Will it be just bringing the apps up on the Solaris after the final copy.  Or, probably Disk IDs will change and devices will be different on Solaris. So, what will be the steps on the Solaris end. How much time it will take for those tasks. Also, we are not using Power Path on the Solaris.

Please advise, if anyone has the actual experience on this in field..

Thank You

Hello Bhuppi1,

Which unity system do you have? Here is a link to the Dell EMC Unity Info Hub that has doc’s and guides on now to install your system.

Hello,

If we set the same HLU IDs when presenting the disks on the Unity, will that help in this case.

Please advise.

Thank You.

Hello Bhuppi1,

You will need to reconfigure the hosts so that they can access the data.  You will need to confirm that your host is configured as is listed in the unity install guide for your unity system.

Hi Sam L,

What pertains reconfiguring the host to access data. What are the specific steps. Are they mentioned in any of the EMC Best Practices for Solaris connectivity guide. Does reconfigure means the disk IDs will change when the new Unity LUNs are seen on the Solaris after the SANCopy completion and LUNs presented from Unity to Solaris.  What is the document number of 'Unity Install Guide' like docuXXXX or hXXXX/h15093 etc.

Thank You.
