SAN and NAS on same RAID group?
Can I mix SAN (LUNs presented as block storage) and NAS file systems on the same set of disks?

As a rule, we've tended to avoid doing this, moreso as a rule of thumb then a hard standard. The reasoning was that we didnt' want the I/O from a block host to impact our file access.
There's no PHYSICAL reason you can't.

i was doing some testing on our 5300 and had setup a storage pool and then presented block luns and file luns to our vmware environment with out any issues.
