Slot 2: The NTP server [x.x.x.x] is not accessible or responding to the time service from [Wed Oct 15 11:01:21 2014].

Hi,

I have installed a VNX5400 unified system.

Temporarily we don't use the file part of the VNX5400.

Now we get the following error on the VNX:

Slot 2: The NTP server [x.x.x.x] is not accessible or responding to the time service from [Wed Oct 15 11:01:21 2014].

This is because the datamover cannot reach the NTP server, because the datamovers are not cabled yet.

Can I disable this error in any way?

How can I do that?

If you have NTP running on the control station you could configure the data mover to use the CS NTP server via the internal network

Check what the CS IP on the internal network is by looking at /etc/hosts and testing it with server_ping

Configuring NTP on the CS is just standard Linux

If you aren’t comfortable with Linux I would suggest to just “live” with the warning or cable the DM’s

You should be able to open an SR with support and they can guide you on modifying the nas checkup script that is checking for and producing the warning as well.
