VNX 5500 Drive Compatibility

I have a VNX5500 that is running Block Version 05.32.000.5.216 and File Version 7.1.76-4

It has 6 empty slots that we were looking to fill in with drives to expand a storage pool that is used for file. Without adding all 6 drives then we won't be able to expand it keeping in with the best practice of adding in multiples of 5 drives since it is RAID5.

The pool is full of 900GB drives with TLA number 005049205. We ordered though one of our vendors to get 6 more of those and they sent me 900GB drives with TLA number 005049302 instead. From what I can tell the drive chassis looks the same. I am just trying to verify that the drives would be compatible to add to that storage pool based off what we are using and current Block/File version.

I tried to look around and I could not find any documentation to show what drives are compatible with each other, and with what arrays they would be compatible with.

You will probably need to check the Disk OE Support Matrix for that TLA number.  You can find it on the EMC Support Site here.

If you don't see the TLA 005049302 drives on it - I suggest opening a ticket with EMC to confirm you can use those drives.

Let us know if that helps!
